Komorebi. A Japanese word that describes the phenomenon of sunlight passing through tree's leaves. Though this word describes a phenomenon, it can also refer to the feeling when the phenomenon happened, a feeling of tranquility. Thus perceiving things more than just meets the eyes. Or in another word an emergence phenomenon. It cannot be perceived if we rely solely on our senses and linear thinking. However, it does not mean it does not exist. It emerges. A value has been created. A creation of value.
In today’s world, more often than not, we view things on an economical scale. “Is it profitable?”, “Should we invest money in this?”, “What's the return of investment for us?”. We value things based on their capital. Though this paradigm is not entirely wrong, this can create a bigger problem in the long term. Seeing things based on their capital value is not wrong. However, seeing things solely based on their capital value is wrong. This will only lead to negation of values other than capital value. Thus leading to a nihilistic world.
I believe to fight the influence of nihilism, a meaningfulness based science is needed. From this value of mine, I strive to be a generalist who views things including problems from many different perspectives. My tendency to think deeply is one of my powerful weapons to delve in this field. On top of that, I am an independent learner who creates my own path to reach goals. After all, we live in the age of the internet where sources of knowledge can be found anywhere (provided we can filter that out).
